This article examines the role of digital platforms in the development of the gig economy and their impact on socioeconomic relations. It explores how platform companies act as catalysts for the development of the gig economy, bringing together different market actors and influencing the allocation of resources. The article analyzes the dual role of platform companies as “economic” and “social” entities, highlighting their obligations to various stakeholders. It is determined that the implementation of platform companies’ responsibilities goes through four key stages: alignment, control, incentives and feedback. Each stage of algorithm management has a management system that meets the tasks set. Particular attention is paid to algorithmic management and responsibility, where the stages of management and the importance of ensuring fairness and efficiency are considered. The article emphasizes the need to strengthen the interaction between platform companies and regulators to promote more inclusive, adapted, accurate, and sustainable algorithmic regulation. It is noted that an effective way of algorithmic regulation is the introduction of algorithmic accountability, i.e., a system that specifies the entities responsible for algorithmic decisions and their obligations.
